Search & Keyboard Controls
Use prefix modes and keyboard actions to narrow results, run commands, open tabs, copy links, and recall queries.
The palette is designed for full keyboard use. Prefix modes narrow the result type, while quick actions let you run or reuse a result without reaching for the mouse.

Narrow with prefixes
Put a prefix at the start of the query to focus on one kind of result.
Prefix modes filter the already capability-checked results. Type the prefix first, then continue with the words you want to find.

- Focus on runnable actions and commands for creating posts, pages, or custom post types.
- @ Users
- Search users that the current account is allowed to see.
- # Content, media, and terms
- Search posts, pages, custom content, media items, and taxonomy terms.
- / Admin screens and settings
- Focus on WordPress admin destinations and settings pages.
Keyboard controls
Move, run, open, copy, and close without leaving the keyboard.
- Arrow keys, Home, and End
- Move through the result list; Home and End jump to the first and last result.
- Enter
- Run the selected command or open its destination.
- Ctrl/Command + Enter
- Open a URL-backed result in a new browser tab.
- Ctrl/Command + C
- Copy the selected result link when no text is selected in the search field.
- Escape
- Close the palette and return focus to the element that had it before opening.
Understand result visibility
Missing results usually reflect permissions, search-source settings, or an incomplete query.
B3 Command Palette does not use the browser as its permission boundary. WordPress capabilities are checked on the server for the static command index and again for on-demand results. A user should therefore see only the destinations and records their account may access.
If a content, user, or media result does not appear, confirm that its search source is enabled and type at least two characters. On-demand record search begins after the second character.
